My 7.2 setup!

I am new to this forum so I figured I would go straight to the posting thread for sound system setups. I have recently became an audiophile. This sound system does not compare to allot of the sound systems posted, you guys have some crazy setups and deep wallets. This is my 20-year-old college budget sound system; I will acquire a setup of professional grade one day. This will work for me till then! Hope you guys like it. The first pictures are final setup last pics are when I first put it together this was a craigslisted system everything! Took a month or two piece by piece. ☺

I listen to FLAC only on home sound system I use FOOBAR 2000 media player, I found this is the best overall customizable FLAC player.

Towers - Yamaha NS-777 bi-amped

Instead of using attachments, it's easier to link to your Photobucket files, IMO.

One of the icons above the text input box for a post is a yellow square with an image of a mountain range and the sun (I think) that says, "Insert Image" when you hover the cursor over it. It works like this, and you can quote this post to see the HTML code.

Btw, my old college self is jealous.

Yeah adam i take none of it for granted, its great cause allot of the kids in my school have never heard music. The right way. I swear i get someone talking about music, or there sound system. Usually when we throw parties and the drunk kid is talking about how his sound system is the best. I bring them downstairs and crank it. I can not count how many times i have just started laughing looking at there face. For the simple fact it was the same as mine when i heard FLAC paired with outrageous speakers for the first time. Music went from a form of mediation for me to a lifestyle. A lifestyle ALLOT of people don't understand. I will just turn my sound system up and ignore them, as they listen to the top 10 playlist on the radio. I will stop my rant there but i do feel audiophiles are a dyeing breed of people. I relate more to older people in there 30 and 40s who understand quality. Nothing worse then hearing some kid talking about "Beats by DRE" to be the best sounding headphones i just laugh.

It's good to see a younger one like yourself really into audio. Your dead-on with the fact that so many kids are molded by the media & their overpaid celebrity endorsed headphones. Throw on top of that the fact that they then go listen to them with MP3 files that sound like....well MP3s. It's sad because music used to be an event. The whole motion of placing a record on a TT, droppin the needle & relaxing to some good music seems to be a fading way of audio. I understand that times change & we are all very busy & that it's very convenient to have iPods but I like to hear that there is still a group out there that appreciates good quality sound. Whether it be vinyl, FLAC or even bluray audio.

And it's not about who has the most expensive gear either. But instead about finding equipment in your budget that makes YOU happy. Not something that rapper-joe tells you you'll like. no offense to rap...RIP 2Pac LOL

Anyways...your system is lookin good man, specially for a college budget. Maybe clean up the wires a bit, but hey most of us are guilty of that even just a bit.

Most defiantly man! Yeah are generation is blinded by advertisements, i am a nerd hybrid still have a life yet am obsessed with music and electronics. I will deal with relating to older people for now. When linkin parks new cd came out i was so excited prepped foobar 2000 grabbed it in flac from what.cd called my friends they are like what? Listen to the whole cd? I guess people don't understand what listening to a album from track 1 to end is how the artist intended it to be.

I am most defiantly not trying to one up anyone or show off! Just felt like showing what i have put together. A super noticeable difference for the bi-amp would be in highs and super deep bass cause of split connection. You have to listen to your speakers for a long time to no what they sound like ext. Yes you hear a difference but like anything it has to be paired with high quality music.

My girlfriend and his headed up there. We had all the electronics in the world. So we shut it all off, no lights just candles. except for his rents BnW speaker setup. Ate mushrooms and this album was on and we heard this song and tripped out. This was what sparked my audiophile addiction. One of the best night ever.

Hope you like the artists i have over 1000 artists from which to choose i have everything from ATB to MOZART!

They seem expensive when I was looking. You remind me of myself. I Also admired oldies in my teens. Meaning Presley, James Brown(an exception since he was used in alot in early rap songs) Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, The Platters, Etc. This was in the 80's and I guess maybe some thought why are you listening to that old music? I also listened to Prince, Billy Idol, etc who to me took what they heard as teens and incorporated into their music. I was always open to different types of music which is getting rare these days with teens, sadly. PS those wood surround stands are cool too.

Ha yeah i listen to Pink Floyd and the Doors i have like 40gigs of there stuff in FLAC. I will check out some of the artist you mentioned. BI-WIRE banana clips where about 50 i know a local guy that does audio he hooked me up. I picked up 500feet of like industrial grade wiring from guy on craigslist worth 400 bucks i got for 70 bucks. The guy was super sketchy deff stolen wire. Either way i did not question it. I am picking up a Lexus today that originated from NYC! I see that's where you are from.

For the wood stands i just looked at some plans and made some crude speaker stands. I sanded and everything i will paint black they are just made to serve there purpose at this house.

Welcome to the Audioholics forum and thank you for taking time to post some photos of your system.

I remember when I was in college and the system I had. It was two Fisher speakers connected to a McDonald flip numeral stereo clock. I did not even have a receiver.

So, for a college system, you are way ahead of what most of us had. Especially for those of us,like me, who paid our own way through college.

Keep us posted on your progress. Lots of good info on this site for speaker placement and tuning in the "University College" Section.
