Just to be annoying I will take this momentous occasion of my 100th post to list, in order my personel favorite 100 albums/CD's of all time. Feel free to read, anaylze, scrutinize, chuckle, or ignore.

I'm still in my 30's so I'm sure there's plenty of good music I haven't heard yet so keep that in mind. 20t020K, Congrats on your 100th post. That's quite a list you put together there. I'm familiar with a bunch, but you've listed a whole lot that I'm not familiar with as well. I wouldn't know where to begin if asked to name my top 100, but I'm sure it changes constantly.

Just a couple comments if I may, I just scanned it quickly so I may have missed some things...You have some Stevie Wonder listed but I didn't see 'Talking Book' - one of his best IMO. If you haven't heard it you should check it out. Also, surprised The Police's 'Ghost in the Machine' wasn't listed but hey, its your list :)

I like your pick at #42, a very nice cd.

Wow, this has me thinking....

You are absolutely correct...I do not own nor have I heard all of Talking Book. Some of the songs on it are on Musiquarium or End of a Century...but on your suggestion (and your obvious taste in music) I will pick it up.

As for Ghost...that would have been somewhere between 100-125 but just didn't make the cut. I thought a couple of the songs on side 2 were a little weak (can you tell I'm an LP guy?).

One day I took Robert Deniro's advice from Taxi Driver and got "Organizized" with my CD's and put them in order for favorites regardless of genre. It was fun...it took me an entire weekend! That made the list easy.

I've got numbers 71 - 73 in a different order than you - my list has:

71. Are You Experienced? - Jimi Hendrix
72. Mo' Roots - Maceo Parker
73. Brothers in Arms - Dire Straights

Other than that, it's exactly the same! :)

Seriously, it is a pretty fun and challenging thing to try and come up with a personal top 100. In a month or so you should try doing it again, blind, to see how different it turns out. I've done top 10 lists a few times, but now I'm inspired to go home and do my own top 100 for real.

You mean you literally arranged your CDs physically that way? I'd have a helluva time doing that. Mine are all arranged alphabetically- I have about 800 and if I didn't keep them well organized I'd never be able to find anything.

Yes, as anal as that may seem that's exactly what I did....put them in order based on which were my fav's. Determining which were my fav's was totally unscientific...just look and say:

"yeah...that one's ahead of this one...uhhh...I think this one is a couple below that one"...and so on."

I also have a rack that I call my "Hall of Shame". CD's that I regret ever buying. It's fun to look at that shelf some times and scratch my head.

I've also done the alphabetical thing before. I used to have my jazz ones seperated by musical instrument...I stole that idea from Europe. That's how
the CD shops in Amsterdam do it.
