Hi guys,
was wondering if i would cause anything in my setup to blow up using the following equipment.

6 Polk Audio RC6's
(Polk Audio RC6s In-wall/in-ceiling stereo input speaker at Crutchfield.com)
going into a leviton(http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/ProductDetail.jsp?partnumber=SGVST-W&section=37736&minisite=10251)

volume control leading into a Dayton Audio MA1240 Multi-Zone 12 Channel Amplifier for Distributed Whole House Audio Systems 300-815 amplifier.

I have the speakers in place along with the volume control and was thinking of buying the amp above. I know i could blow up my speakers using an amp that has more wattage per channel than the speakers can handle but didnt know if i could damage my amp using high wattage speakers. Please let me know

Thanks

I don't think that amp is TOO powerfull for the speakers you have. I looked at both of them and the specs on each. I have found most entry level multi channel amps really do not produce the WPC they claim if more then two channels are being used.
Look on some the forum sites that have bench tested AVR 7.1 etc and you will see most don't come close. This includes the Yamaha AVR's I own..... my Dad's old Klipsch Heritage speakers don't require a lot of power... :) to fill my small den. I have no idea how good this amp is.good price but it makes me wonder if this amp is clean and will be trouble free. Maybe someone with these speakers and amp will post up.

thanks. I read the reviews and people have said it does a good job. I was just worried about causing damage. Thanks

Don't see anything wrong there.

8-ohm speakers, your only using 6. You can bridge and give the speakers 80-watts at 8-ohms, which is in the range they are asking for. THD goes up, but for distributed audio it I would be hard pressed to find a home application where that would be audible.
