Musing....2 channel stereo great! Surprising

I hooked up some old Paradigms, popped some vinyl on, and ran thru an Onkyo pure audio 2 channel ..

No need for subwoofer, and just a neat experience I haven't had in 20 years.

Why does a small 2 channel deliver such a great sound , especially compared to my HT 5.1 $10k rig?

Now I got the bug to setup some of old Musical Design stuff in a small room and chase vinyl records again.

And....... kicking myself for dumping my 1k records to a friend.,..

Obsession or am I just bored?

Happy listening.
Best,,,

It's all about having fun and enjoying music in different formats. Many people take this hobby way too seriously. If the records sound good and your into getting back into vinyl go out aīnd shop at some local record stores, that's half the fun.

IMO, it is about the music, not as much how you're listening. My main rig is $$ too, but I enjoyed listening to my inexpensive 2ch rig just as much.

My gear has always been about enjoying the content I collect. Gear/implementation expectations in terms of what is going to sound good can be just plain weird. I like 2ch stuff but also multi-ch stuff, just want gear that handles both very well which is pretty easy to do IMO.

If your into the blues, there are some obscure artists that I have purchased used that are not available on CD or through digital downloads or ever have been. I don't think these obscure artists are being produced on vinyl anymore either btw. Its a fun hobby if you don't take it too seriously.
