Musical subs and pre-amp processor?

I have a SVS20-39PCi which is pretty good sub for music, and exceptional for HT. However, I would like something a little faster and with more detail that is better suited for music (SACD).

I'm thinking I might need to go to a 10" driver and was kicking around the idea of getting two 10" subs that SVS makes. I want my cake and want to eat it too. I'd still like to get the extension to ~ 20Hz. Performance above 80Hz is of no importance.

My main speakers are Energy Verits 2.3i's, which are basically flat at 40Hz, and this is where I usually set the cross over on my Outlaw model 950 pre-processor (when using the Outlaw's DAC's via digital inputs).

This works well for movies, etc., however, I get much better sound using the Outlaw's analog inputs (direct bypass, all analog with no digital crossover, etc. in the path) and the DAC's of my Sony DVP NS999ES.

Problem is the 5.1 analog inputs have a analog filter that is switched on or off and is fixed at 80Hz. When set to off a full range signal is sent to all speakers and since I don't have full range speakers this is not really an option. The sony has a fixed crossover set at 120Hz which is too high. Same problem most people have with analog inputs, you guys know the story.

Somone recommended I get the outboard crossover that Outlaw makes, but I don't want to deal with all the extra cabling and associated problems. Just too much hassle and not an option.

So my only options are to get a new a new pre-processor with a more crossover capabilities for analog inputs (someting I'm thinking about doing anyhow Sherwood, Outlaw, etc. ??) or get tighter/more musical sub/subs which perform better up to the 80Hz crossover point. I'll eventually do both.

Two SVS-10's better? Any pre-processors with better crossover performance? New DVDP which better more extensive crossovers?

Comments/recommendations please.

Thanks.
