OK.. I can blame 'shaishav' for this......
He mentioned in his 'first stereo' post that he'd really prefer to have separate systems for music and HT. While I initially dismissed the idea, it seems to have taken root. This 'epiphany' coincided with two factors- one being the comparison between the Arcam and NAD that I posted about which showed me the real difference that electronics can made, and the high probability that I might be coming into a small windfall, such that I *might* have about $5K to spend on 'something fun' in several months.
Thus, I'm considering setting up a room for stereo music (why 2 channel, would be another discussion, but I do have over 200 CD's at the moment, so that will always be a major part of my listening). The idea would be to get the best possible sound for music not to exceed the above price. I only use radio to listen to NPR and have several local stations to chose from, so tuner performance is not important. The major input would be CD's - exploring SACD or DVD-A, I'm willing to leave for another day, and I also have 'Music Choice' on my digital cable, but that's for background, not critical listening.
So, while I have some ideas, I want to leave this open- what would you recommend to give me the best possible 2 channel listening experience off well recorded CD's?
Thanks-
