Music listening - Yamaha RX-A3020

When listening to music, I was experimenting with the different sound fields of the 3020. One thing I couldn't find though is to listen in 2.1. I can't seem to find a setting that runs the two fronts and the sub. Either I'm being stupid (very likely) or in 2-channel I can't get the sub to work.

You can select Stereo and set the front L/R speakers to small. If you prefer to set the front L/R to large then you have to select 'extra bass' to have the subwoofers produce the low frequencies simultaneously.

Press the "Straight Effect" button on the remote. Basically it's Pure Direct with the subwoofer. I'm going by what I use on my RX-V-4600, 2600 & 2700.
