Can we have a poll here.. Who here still listens to the whole album regardless of format verses those who never listen to a whole album and just skips around listening to random songs.

About 95% of the time, I listen to entire album.

All "Pink Floyd" and "Bothers in Arms" I listen to the entire album, everything else gets skipped.

As I get older, I have more patience to listen to the whole album.

If I'm at home, listening on my system...the whole album. I mean, skipping tracks would be like skipping scenes in a movie, it just wouldn't make sense. If I'm in the car or listening on my ipod I tend to jump around.

I can understand the jumping around a bit in a car. After all it would be very difficult to listen to something like "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf during rush hour grid lock. :D

Last.fm at work and occasional iphone in transit = thats the only time I listed to music now days. In 99.9% of cases I hear shuffled songs.

Pink Floyd is the only one I pick to listen whole albums.

Entire album...I like to think some artists try to have a significance to the order of the songs. I stress some, lol. If I'm skipping around, it's with multiple discs and artists for background noise. So 90% full album for me.

It might get you home faster, depending on how wild the music makes you-just make sure the pedestrians can jump out of your way when you take to the sidewalk. :p Seriously, I tend to listen to the entire album when playing LPs (unless I am auditioning a new pressing), but will usually jump around more when playing other formats.

It isn't often that I do not listen to an entire album. A lot of the live recordings have a "show" feel and I like that experience:)

depending on the album, i listen to the whole thing, albums include stuff from Becoming The Archetype, Feast Eternal, Aletheian, Impending Doom, their stuff is good every track, albums i dont listen to the whole thing is mostly rock albums, rock bands always seem to have that few tracks that they sound thrown together or "filler" tracks nowadays *sighs*

I have playlists made up that have all the songs I like. I usually just put a playlist on random mode or sometimes pick out songs that I want to hear. I rarely listen to a whole album anymore.

Mostly the entire album. For one thing, if an artist doesn't have an entire album that's of interest, then I'm not interested. Secondly, generally the sequence seems to be of some importance. Now and again, however, I'm in the mood to just skip all over the place.

I’m pretty much a whole album kind of guy. If I buy something and find that I don’t like the entire album, it rarely ends up getting played.

I suppose I tend to skip around if I’ve been drinking a little too much and get the random urge to listen to all kinds of stuff at loud volumes.:D

Dude I Hear Ya! Just listened to Dark Side Of The Moon. I have the Floyd box set and to me their albums are like watching a movie (start to finish).

When I've my iPod and I'm on my way to work or something, it's always on Shuffle mode. There's not always enough time to listen to a whole album, so individual songs make more sense.

But when I'm at home and my roommate's not, I do make the time to sit down with a record, CD, DVD-A or SACD, and listen to the whole album in one go. I'm from the "albums era" rather than the "singles era", so I definitely prefer listening to an entire album (early Genesis, Pink Floyd, Marillion, etc.).

cheers,
supervij
