music library migration

I would have put this in the Steam Vent, but I was one post short . . .

My second iPod is dying - bad logic board apparently. I'd like to get it fixed if I can, but regardless of that this seems like a prime opportunity to dump iTunes once and for all. As my library has grown (6,000+ songs now plus videos etc.) I have become more and more dissatisfied with iTunes. It's as slow as crap and I don't like dealing with all the proprietary Apple junk (I'm using Vista currently).

I know that other media managers can sync iPods as well, so I'm not too concerned about that - but what software do you use? I've looked at MediaMonkey and heard some good things about it, so I'd be interested in any reviews on that. But any other recommendations are welcome. I need software that is built for people with large libraries of music.

MediaMonkey is the hands down winner for most. I'm using it to archive all my discs to FLAC. I haven't really gotten into all the features, but it's an awsome program. There are other programs for very very specific things that some people lean towards for one specific reason or another, but I think just about anyone you talk to on most forums will agree that MM is the way to go.

Thanks - I have downloaded MM and I think I'll give it a whirl. Can it read all of the iTunes/Quicktime formats? Because if so, I'd be glad to uninstall that bloatware off my system for good . . .
