Just registered after spending a couple hours on the forums. Looks like I've come to the right place....
I am in the middle of a total upgrade to my apartment. I plan to buy the Yamaha v2400 for my living room home theater and to power a pair of speakers on a large outdoor terrace, and another pair on a separate large roof deck.
Ideally, I would like to use the Yamaha v2400 for my home theater and use Zone 2 for the terrace and Zone 3 for the roof. I have read about using a separate (or leftover) amplifier to drive mains and use the v2400 to power the surrounds (and zones?) which could be a possibility here if required.
I have many questions, but here are the immediate ones:
1) Does this make sense?
2) If I use Zone 2 and Zone 3, how they be controlled (volume mainly) from those other locations? Can I take advantage of remote in/outs for Zones 2/3 on the back of the receiver to do this?
3) What outdoor speakers would you recommend? Niles?
4) I will have a leftover Marantz SR8000, can I use this to power the mains?
I'm new to all of this, so thanks in advance for any advice you can spare.
