Hi All!! New to the forum. I am cobbling together a system to just play cd's and Lp's with both new and old tech to make my wife happy(most of you may know how important this can be!!!).With my dennon avr-1905 rec. 5.1 rec. and my 1st gen Paradigm atom and Micro speakers, I get great sound. Going the extra mile I wanted to include the same 1st gen Paradigm passive ps-100/0(can't remember the exact model designation). Getting no response with direct connection - even when connecting the main speaker out to the sub and then connecting the satellite speakers in line(like it was done back in the day) I purchased a small and cheap subwoofer amp - a Lepy lp-168 45W X 2/68W X 1. I still got a low level/non-response from the sub connecting the sub out on the Dennon rec. into the Lepy amp and with the wire connections out to the subwoofer itself. However, when I connected the cd player directly(splitting the signal and also connecting it to the Dennon rec) to the Lepy amp connected to the Paradigm sub....Boom. I got a wonderful response. I should also mention that the Paradigm sub has a crossover in it. I am assuming the Dennon av rec has a crossover in it AND the Lepy amp has a crossover in it!! Thank you for persevering to continue to read this long post! Now. every time I try to also put my Sony PS LX-300USB turntable into the Subwoofer mix...my Dennon receiver shuts off like a circuit breaker flipped!! Are the crossovers causing this problem or is it my connections or my cheap Lepy sub amp? I would greatly appreciate your knowledge....
Yes I am sure I could throw a bunch of $$$$ and fix the problem. My Scottish heritage(and mainly my WIFE) makes need to do this on the cheap!
