Multichannel select turns off my Amp

I just bought a Panny BD85 and connected it via 5.1 analog to my Yamaha RX-V659 (no HDMI) that I am using as a pre-pro. When I select multichannel on the receiver, it turns off my Emo UPA-5 via the 12v trigger. I never had a reason to select that before. Why would it do that and how can I use multichannel with this setup? This was the reason I chose the BD85. Please help.

Check your AVR settings and make sure the trigger is set to on and not off in MULTI CH mode.

I went through the setup menu on the AVR and I can't find where that is addressed. Sounds like your right, but where is it? Of course I don't remember where the manual is..its been years since I had to look at it. From what I remember, the only thing the manual said about the trigger is that it had one.

Try here. You'll have to sign up with Yamaha, but it's a link to the manual. Maybe that will help. It's possible your receiver is defeating the trigger in Multi Ch mode for some reason.

My RX-V1500 did the same thing.
I never found a solution to it other than turning the trigger input off on the amp.
I was unaware this issue still existed with the 659.

BTW I could not open the 1500 pdf that Yamaha had on their site.

Interesting.

I did find a solution to the problem on my 1500 that is still in the den. But it involves receiver manager software and an RS-232 port that the 659 lacks.

Anyway. I found the the DC trigger output while in Multi channel mode is factory set to low, which isn't enough to keep my amp running, I set mine to high and now the amp stays on in MC mode.

It is possible that the answer lies within the diagnostic mode within the reciever, but I can't be of any help beyond this.

If no one here can be of further help; AVS forum is an excellent resource.
(Presuming you can sift thru miles of information)

I do believe this is the answer to your problem but accessing the proper controls is the issue.
