Multi zone help please - RX-V2700

I've just set up a second zone outside using my Yamaha RX-V2700 receiver. It's only running 2-channel stereo which is fine. It was easy to set up and is happily sending music through from the Net/USB input, and sound from my cable. I can't however get it to send the sound from my digital tv. My Sharp PD7X LCD sends 5.1 sound to the receiver via optical. Could this be the reason? Is there anything I can do? Help appreciated because I'm stumped!

Many receivers will only send analog signals to the secondary zone. Check you manual and I bet there is fine print that says you cannot use digital sources for you zone 2. I have had Denon, Pioneer and now an Onkyo and they are all like this. Is your cable using analog? The Net/USB connection may be the exception. With my Pioneer Elite I could use the special Ipod connection in the zone 2 but no other types of digital connections.
