first off i'm not a noob. I saw on a forum once, that a guy took a bunch of average everday woofers and he hooke dup ten of them in one room and he said he could hit 10hz, ya i know it sound a lil far fetched but it also doesnt sound impossible. so now onto what i'm asking. i want to build a really cheap system for my house that will hit the super deep lows of bass for less than 200 bucks i already have many amplifiers, and wood to build boxes, so i would like to know what i should do for a setup that can hit down to 20hz easily and also be able to hit 120db i was looking on ebay, and i did find some woofer that hit down to 18hz and i was thinking maybe 4 of them, i would post a link but it won't let me, so let me know.

First of all we expect a reasonable standard of spelling and grammar on these forums. Please use your spell check.

If you want to build a system like you envisage it will be very expensive. All your drivers need to be the same. To hit 20 Hz with an IB you will need to use at least four 15 inch or 18 inch high quality drivers. They will need a low Fs, and fairly high xmax, and a Qts over 0.4.

Here is a link that may help you. On a previous post you said funds were tight, so this does not sound like the project for you. To hit 20 Hz with this type of system will require a healthy bank balance and a suitable room or large space adjacent to your listening room, to be the IB space. So you will have lot of building revision and building expense besides the electronics.

And yes, you are a noob.

ya i was looking infinite baffle isn't for me, but i was thinking i could get two or three 150-200w rms 15's and put them into ported boxes, would this work?? i forgot to mention i wanted it somewhat portable, as in if i move somewhere else i want to be able to take it with me.

And yes, you are a noob.
Doc, you crack me up!!!:D:D

gadgeteer123, I don't know where you'll find 4 good drivers, with those capabilities, for $200. Maybe used...

You should be posting in the DIY section. There are some very talented designers in these forums and if you are nice to them, they'll be glad to help as much as they can. Are you familiar with the WinISD program? If not, it's a tool for designing enclosures.

And TLS Guy is right. Many of us are anal about grammar and spelling - please try to humour us...

I'm sorry if i'm not being the nicest but, every forum i ever post in just gives me this stuff about all the bad things about what i'm doing, and they also just say its to complicated i always get those kind of responses from people, doesn't matter what forum. i know it complicated and hard to find, thats why i'm posting, i'm very good at research but sometimes i need help. plus i have decided to just go with two good shaking 15"s in sealed or ported boxes, and i have also decided i will just buy them one at a time to save money, i just haven't decided what sub to use yet.

Are you willing to accept a large box? Do a search on Tuba HT. Its a folded horn design around a 15" parts express driver that apparently performs very well. You will be missing some of the really deep bass, but for the money you will have A LOT of bass.

There is a review thread on AVS forum that is current that you should read through.

And, who cares whether or not you are a noob.

You have trouble, because there is physics and math involved. Individuals on this and other forums are going to assume that your skills in these areas are on a par with your English language skills.

Download WinISD and see if you can understand it. If not you can not accomplish what you desire.. Also you need to research Thiel/Small parameters. If you can at least convince us that you understand the significance of the Thiel/Small parameters then I think we can help you. If not purchase a commercial sub.

This may seem harsh, but there is a minimum fount of knowledge you need to have in order to accomplish your task. These forums are not a community college or university.

I have dealt with competition car stereo systems my car can hit 140db with only a 1100 watt single sub i am a bit of a noob for house subwoofers but i'm experienced with cars so it wouldn't be hard at all for me to figure it out, i am leaving but i will be back and check out that program in 30-45 minutes. I have used box design software before.

I regard 140 db in a car as a criminal nuisance. It has no bearing on accurate home audio whatever. If you know how to model a sub, why are you posting here?

I posted here not to build a box but to select a good sub for cheap. And they do make 140db subwoofers for car that have good SQ but they cost way to much. And my current car sub cost $700 when new, i got it used.

BTW, gadgeteer, you should be able to post a link to the eBay auction that you mentioned. You have enough posts to do that.
