Hi,
I'm a bit of a ignoramus when it comes to this so all help would be greatly appericiated, think of me as a blank slate.
I want to set up multi room speakers so that every room in the house has 2 speakers with the main room having 5.1. It will need to connect to most media (ipod, computer, dvd player etc etc). Im not really sure where to go from here can anyone suggest a system that might do this. I would really appericiate it.
Thanks

Here is a simple and less expensive whole house system that you might consider:

7.1 Receiver with Zone 2: $350+
Yamaha RX-V659 for example
Behringer A500 Amp: $180
Impedance Matching Volume Controls: $30 each
Inceiling speakers: $1-200/pair
14/4 and 14/2 belden speaker wire: $0.46/foot

Companies like Russound and Niles make distribution amps with keypads which add a few features like any source in any room but cost significantly more and may require professional installation.

You might want to use a receiver (or seperates) for your HT and something like this for your whole house application.

You have to figure out what you want/need in the way of hardware and a budget. There are many options. It's easier to go shopping once you have an idea how much you can afford.

As much for handiness as anything else. If you know a cheaper way to do the same thing it would be much appericiated.
