MTX PS15 Amp Fried. Replacement help needed.

I have a couple MTX PS15 home subs. I have had 3 amps in them from MTX. They all have fried. I would like to know what are my options on replacing the amps with something that would last? The stock amps will not last. I have to assume its a heat issue (no external heat sink) because I do not drive my system hard. Both of my PS15's are dead.

Currently I am using a MTX SUB15 and a PS15 on my system. I like the PS15 better, seems to have better sound. But I need to get the PS15 reliable.

I would not mind an external amp that would drive one or 2 PS15 spkrs. or a plate amp for each PS15. Keep in mind my disposable income is limited.

What are my options?

Thanks in advance

What is your budget? Have you considered stepping up to a better sub?

What kind of receiver are you using? If you are using a newer mid-fi or higher receiver then it probably has a cross-over. That means you don't need to buy one.

One point I would like to make is this, if all the amps have been damaged it seems that it could be a problem that might have been caused by excessive use. But an amp or amps that may fit the bill would be the Behringer A-500. It is rated at 500 watts @ 8 ohms bridged or 230 watts x 2 @ 4ohms. It should power the subs very well. The A-500 is around $180 a piece.

The only drawback to the A-500 is the lack of an "auto on/off" feature. If the sub is 8 Ohm, then the A-500 will work, but if it is 4 Ohms, do not use it as it is not rated to handle 4 Ohm loads when bridged.

Thanks for the quick replies gents. My RX is a Sony DTR-DE975. At this time I do not want to upgrade the subs. I still have a working SUB15 from MTX. I just would like to bring back to life the 2- PS15's.
As far as roaching the previous 3 amps: The ps15 has a horrible repair record. A friend who owns a stereo store ( home & auto, out of business now) has seen several amp failures, so I am not alone.

Thanks for the replies... Keep them coming.
