Moving into the Android Realm

I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab4 for Christmas and I'm now looking for Home Theater related applications from SPL meters, frequency analyzers, HDTV calibrations and remote applications for WD TV Live Plus.... I have all of these apps on my Playbook Any suggestions?

Definitely get an AVR remote app for your Yamaha.

Depending on what you have, there are remote apps for home thermostats (Radio Thermostat), home lightings and garage doors (Lift-Master/Chamberlain), cameras (D-Link), etc.

My Samsung Note3 has a IR remote, so I can use it as a universal remote if I wanted to. If your Samsung tablet has an IR, you could turn it into a universal IR remote.

Yeah, if the Samsung S4 and Note3 phones have IR function, I would think a Samsung Tablet would have it too. It is a learning/programmable remote. I think the app is called "WatchOn". I've used it when I first got my Note3 phone, but have not used it since.
