Moving Hot tubs over distance

My mum has a hot tub that she isn't using, and does not want to have it in her backyard. I would like to get a hot tub, so the price is right, but she lives ~ 300 miles away.

So, I was wondering if anyone has ever done this. My guess, is the tub is about 6 - 7 yrs old. So, I would have to line up a trailer / truck to get it up here, but I was curious if amyone has ever done this before and learned anything from it that I could benefit from.

It would be really nice to have a soak in the tub after a mtb ride or snowboarding, or just any other time. Could be good to hook up a TV and watch while soaking.

Drain it. Build a frame around it, you don't want it sitting only its bottom, or pad the trailer and turn it upside down and lay flat. Also, try to avoid resting it on its side, you can collapse the edge. It will probably take 4 or 5 people to load, unload it. I would bring work gloves too, the edges can be sharp. It would also be a good time to inspect it for separations in the layers and make repairs if necessary.

Never thought about the crate / padding angle. Thanks for the advice. This one took, I think ~ 8 people to take it off the trailer to move to the spot where it now sits. I'm guessing it will be the same to bring it up here.
