so, i'm finally ready to mount the driver in the box, just one concern, with all the stuff he included with the sub there is a roll of kinda tape/velvet stuff, is this suppose to go between the sub and the box? it looks like it could perhaps be used as a gasket between the sub and box?

is somthing like this commonly used?

Yes, it is commonly used it is to prevent air from escaping beneath the sub's mounting ring. It is definitely recommended for use. Also remember to pre-drill the driver mounting holes. Best of luck! :)

As annunaki states, you want as good a seal as possible between the driver and the cabinet.

You want the whole cabinet as sealed up as you can possibly make it. Glue all of the seams, use a gasket or glue between the port and the box, the amp and the box, and the driver and the box.
