Mounting amp Sideways

Hey everyone, I am thinking about buying a Emotiva xpa-5 for my home theater, My options are to buy a floor stand and put the amp on the stand next to my TV stand, or to put the amp sideways "like a ps3". I was thinking about making some wood blocks that would serve as feet so that it would be stable. Does anyone think this would be a problem from the amp? It looks to me like the amp has fans inside for cooling.

I'd ask Emotiva. That will affect the normal convection cooling through the vents at the top, but if they say it is OK, then that's all you need to know.

There are no fans.

Yeah, in general, I wouldn't expect a sideways amp to be problematic. But, looking at the orientation of those heat sinks, it is obvious that the designers did not have that in mind for this design. It may need some forced-air cooling to operate on its side.

It shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure that cooling is more than adequate for the amps. putting so that the heat sinks face up would be a good idea.

Not to add another wrinkle, but how about building another cabinet/rack to hold your gear properly?

It's what I'm currently doing for my setup. I got fed up with being gouged for the sake of "convenience".

By building my own, I have exactly what I need, customizable to my requirements, excellent workmanship,
and tremendous price savings as no one makes a dual side rack to support 10 components.
