Motorola homesight Home Security, Monitoring & Control System Review

However, a company well-known for its networking and communications hardware & software is more suited for this market than people may think. When I first heard of the Motorola homesight system I was hit by the overall impression - "well that makes a lot of sense." I mean, why should a company so good at making network hardware not apply that knowledge towards home monitoring and control? The homesight system is designed to secure your home and allow both local and remote monitoring as well as system status and activity recording. It works with an existing broadband connection and features an 802.11g networked series of sensors and control components.

Seems off topic for this site. A decent review, but I'd much rather see an 8-page speaker review than an 8 page gadget review.

And damn it. I can't get EW&F out of my mind.

Home control systems are hot - this seemed a good system as it is user-friendly and can be used to provide home monitoring and some basic power control. I'm hoping they expand the system to integrate more with lighting controls and home automation.

I for 1 love reading about home automation and security :) Keep it comming..

I had thought about a wireless system for awhie but with the airs getting more and more crowded I think wire is the way to go for security. Ya its more of a pain but I want crystal video (audio depending on where you live can get you in legal trouble) and im not too worried about the audio portion anyway.
If my neigbor cranks up somthing that runs interference what is the use of a wireless system? Looks nice and all but I dont buy the hype. I have a wireless baby monitor and the video from 1 floor away is good sometimes horrible at others. That cost me $30 on ebay, I cant see the risk with 1k or over on it.
