More volume out of speaker?

Hey guys, new to this forum and hoping I can get the help I need! I'm redoing my garage over and on the way out of the store I saw a work bench light with blue tooth speakers built in, for the price and in need of a new work bench light I couldn't pass it up. Sadly you get what you pay for, the light itself is great, but the speakers are very very low, the whole unit runs off the volume you set on your phone or what ever device your streaming from and the light/speakers itself have no volume control.

I love to take things apart and work on them, for the price I paid I'm willing to open this up and see if I can make it better. What I'm asking for help on is what can I add into the light to one increase the volume (I imagine bigger speakers) but two is there also something I can add into it to be able to control the volume on the physical light itself. I'm new to adding things to speakers or audio equipment. I've looked up quick how tos on making my own Bluetooth speaker and I think what I got from that was maybe add an amplifier with volume control knob into the unit???

Any advice would be appreciated!

This would make a great garage speaker. I personally wouldn't even attempt to "fix" an issue that's probably inherent to poor design. Adding more power or volume will most likely push those bench light speakers beyond their capabilities.

The thing is space is at a premium, it's a single car garage barely. Im not against changing the speakers in it. I'm nowhere near needing perfect sound quality especially in a workshop but I'd like to be able to hear it without having to struggle especially over the sound of some of the tools. I have some old Logitech desktop speakers that have been sitting in the attic since college that I could try to use as replacement speakers. Are there any helpful diagrams out three that show how to wire up what I'm trying to do?

Outside my realm of knowledge. There are some guys who might be able to help, but it sounds to me not to be worth the effort (I could be wrong). if you can find a cheap little receiver to hook your old Logitech speakers to, you should be able to hit the volume you're looking for.

Is there room in the chassis to stuff all that inside it? What if the existing speaker can’t handle the additional power? Is there room to install those “bigger speakers” you mentioned?

Seriously Vincent, just go buy a blue tooth speaker that works the way you want it. That way you can devote your time an effort to useful projects, and enjoy some music while you do.

I can't imagine buying one of those at the hardware store...for either the light or the speakers. What are you using for a source for the music? Do you have a make/model or some pics for this unit so we can see what you've got?

Was originally 56$ got it for 30$ open box no chain to hang it so I figured for the price and it gave off a good amount of light for the work bench it was worth it, same sized light without the speaker would of ended up costing more than I paid anyway. The light is fine just wish I could get more sound out of it. I know the easier thing to do is just get different speakers for my music but I like to work on things, just don't know how the actual wiring for speakers goes and was looking for some guidance.

Not a good place for locating speakers in any case (or will you always stand centered right under it?) and doubt you could change the drivers out effectively, I'd think it would simply not be worth the effort, especially with the information at hand. Maybe time to build your DIY bluetooth speaker from existing plans....

That's a good idea. Shouldn't cost too much. It'd give you something to work on and as you learn to build one you'll realize how fruitless it would be to try to turbo charge your light speakers. Plenty of known proven designs out there.

You guys convinced me, I'll pull the old logitechs out and hook them up to a Bluetooth receiver to have better quality music. BUT I'm still going to hack that light up and see what's going on inside. My cafe racer motorcycle project has come to an end and while trying to save money for another I need something else to tinker with. I know you guys are at the top of your game when it comes to audio and sound quality. I'm starting at the very bottom and need to begin somewhere I think. End up with crummy speakers that dont work at least ill still have the light!

If you like to build things, as has been stated, the best is to build some speakers custom fit to your needs.

If small is what you want that performs well, check out these. Add a small Bluetooth/wifi amp from somewhere like Parts Express and for just over a couple hundred bucks, you have something that will pay that back just for the project entertainment value alone and will sound good too.

The Quarks (linked above) are meant to play with a subwoofer but that amp has accommodations to add a small powered (another DIY project for after you get hooked on building speakers) subwoofer that you could probably stash under your bench.
