It seems like many folks on this site have this product. I haven't listened to it yet but will. I was searching the net and found this site with some prices for a few of the Mordaunt systems (there are a few on the bottom of the page as well). Can anyone offer their opinions?

Actually, you don't hear Mordaunt Short mentioned here at all......or very rarely. I see one member has some 900 series speakers in his signature.
I owned the 500 series that were released a few years back. The 502 fronts had built in subs on each speaker. The 504 center and 506 surrounds filled out the 5.2 setup. Retail on that set up was around $1800. I bought them used. I can't speak for the models you are looking at, but the 500 series was an excellent performer in the mid fi speaker class. The fit, finish, and heft of the units was spot on for the price. The sound quality was excellent. Some feel they might be lacking in the low end as a brand but I am all about the mid and upper ranges so they sounded wonderful to me.

At that price you are getting a decent speaker a couple steps up from entry level home theatre. In the future you could upgrade to better fronts and still keep the other speakers in the mix.

The company is an authorized dealer. They have a thirty day return policy, with you paying for shipping if you don't like the speakers. HTH.

Here is another place to get Mordaunt Short speakers: http://www.ac4l.com/

I used to own the 902s and I have heard most of the 900 series lineup. I have only heard the 302s once but they sounded every bit as good as the 900s with a little less bass. I was always pleased with the 902s and I had them for a few years. If I hadn't have gotten a great deal on another pair of speakers that I liked more (A/V-1s) I would still have them. I have no hesitation recommending Mordaunt Short or AC4L which is where I bought mine.

You can get the 5 piece system (minus the sub) here for $250:
http://www.tsto.com

They also have the sub for $300. That's $550 total.

I'd recommend against that setup though. Those speakers are *tiny* (way smaller than the photo indicates, like palm of your hand small). You'd be much better off with the 912's all around (they're $270/pr at the same site). It'll be slightly more expensive, but *way* better sounding.

My father has the 908's and the 903 surrounds. They're great speakers for the price. I've also heard the 912's and they look and sound good. Mordaunt-Short makes some great speakers.

Another low-cost system that is big on sound and looks is the X-LS/X-CS system:

or the SBS01 from SVS:

www.tsto.com is the place to get those Mordaunts like abboudc suggested. I actually have that exact set which I'm upgrading to larger ones. They are quite small, but they put out substantial sound. For a smaller theatre, they'd probably do fine, but full-sized bookshelves will obviously outperform them.

I felt the X-LS vocals were too forward drowning out instruments. The Mordaunts sounded more balanced to my ears. I feel that way about most speakers not utilizing a metal-based tweeter. I like that crisp sound. Some hate it and feel the complete opposite. It's all a matter of personal taste.

If you do end up going with the MS Premier, consider getting an HSU or Onix sub if you're on budget. The MS subs are okay, but easily beaten by HSU or Onix.
