I have to thank afterlife2 for recommending this movie.

The wife and I went to see this last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's quirky, bordering on the surreal, but that was part of the charm. Several prominent actors appear: Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Ed Norton, Frances McDormand and Harvey Keitel. They all give fine performances in roles where their egos had to be checked at the door. That's because they all had to give way to the two leads; a couple of unknown 12-year-olds - Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman, whose characters fall in love and run away to be together.

The movie is a comedy, but the story unfolds in a serious, deadpan fashion. There are no gut-busting laughs to be had, but I found it quite funny in its absurdity. The whole story requires some suspension of disbelief, but with all the scifi/slasher/super-hero flics out there, that shouldn't be a problem for you guys, right?

This is not a movie that I ever thought I would enjoy, but I did.

Similar reaction, except that being a Wes Anderson flick, I was prepared for it to be good. I was greatly surprised by the Fantatistic Mr Fox and the Royal Tennenbaums, so, in spite of the underwhelming trailer, I didn't want to miss it. I really liked the wry, silly irony of the whole thing, especially the satirical portrayal of the Boy Scouts. My experience of them was too close to the movie version to not enjoy.

I didn't realize that those are both Wes Anderson movies. I quite enjoyed those also.

I loved this movie. My g/f, not so much. I thought the film was charming. She thought it was stupid.
