Monster vs. Tripp Lite

I'm deciding between a Monster HTS3500MKII for $110 after rebate:

or the Tripp Lite HT10DBS for $77:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10385304&loc=101&sp=1
The Tripp Lite is cheaper, has a higher Joule rating, has $500,000 Insurance vs. the $100,000 of the monster, and was chosen by Audioholics for their $25K System. It appears that all of these make the Tripp Lite the better choice, but I was wondering if anyone thought that the Monster would be better.

Tripp Lite was highly rated by Consumer Reports a few years ago. And on principle alone, I'd stay away from Monster.

As much as I may dislike a manufacturer, when it comes to my home theater I go with whoever is going to give me the best performance in the price range I'm looking in.
