Curious if any of you have either of the following 2 products.

http://cgi.ebay.com/MONSTER-POWER-CABLE-HTS-1000-MKII-SURGE-PROTECTOR-WOW_W0QQitemZ9733920791QQcategoryZ67780QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9717322665&ssPageName=MERC_VI_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT

If so how do you like them or if you know the products which would you choose between the 2 ?? I was looking for something to clear up my picture a little bit and the guy in my local store recomenned for me to but the monster 3500 unit but was wondering how much better (if at all) it would be over the MKII 1000 or 2000 unit ??

THanks.

I have the monster 3500, and I'm thinking about getting another. Been pleased with it; can't say I noticed a picture improvement or anything after adding it, but it's what I consider probably one of the best surge protectors around, so it's some piece of mind when you've spend so much $$ on your electronics, what's another $120 if it could protect it from lightning.

I use the Monster 1000 and love it. It seems to be a really well built product.
Do I think it makes my picture clearer or my sound crisper? No, I bought it because I wanted a very sturdy and nice looking surge protector.
Do I trust it? Yes, I leave it plugged in during thunderstorms all the time.

The one thing that bothers me about it, is that the 4 outlets on the video bank are only controlled by the 12v remote in and not by the main switch. (i.e. turning off the main switch will only turn off the audio outlets)

Other than that, It looks good and does it's job.
Is the 3500 better? Maybe? That's a cheap price for it, If I needed one I would get the 3500 just because of how much off it is, but I wouldn't expect any improvment except for maybe a few more outlets.

So basically, the choice is up to you. But buy whichever you would want as nice power strip and surge protector but don't expect it to perform miracles.

What if you were to compare between the 2 options ?

Exactly. You might want to start by describing your video problem(s) and maybe someone can help with that before you throw money at a problem and end up finding out it doesn't solve the problem. A good surge supressor is never a bad thing, but you may be looking in the wrong place for a solution to a specific problem.

I'm getting a bit of noice in the TV (just a bit) and th ecolor looks a bit soft. I have satellite with Component (ultralink) wires going straight to the TV. The guys a the audio store I'm at were telling me how this would take away the noise as well as make the picture look a bit sharper but mostly make the audio sound better as there would be no noise distortion there as well.

It could be simply the alignment of your dish, or the connection of the cabling from the dish to your receiver box. Is the dish high on the house, or low towards the ground? Is there anything in the way of the dish (trees, another house, playset...)?

Nothing is in the way of the dish as the dish it on the roof and no trees or houses or buildings in the way. The dish guy used my existing wiring RG 56 I think as it was in the house from 17 years ago. DO you think that would make a difference ?

Sounds like audio voodoo is what they are trying to tell you about the unit's magic powers. But, we live in reality:D

Look for other ways to cure your TV problems, as well as audio issues. That Monster unit will protect against surges.

Have you properly calibrated the TV?
Do you have any of these issues when playing a DVD?
Is that noise there all the time, or just some times? On all the channels?

i cannot help you with any video issues, but have had a monster 1000 for over a year & am happy with it for what i paid for it. i did notice a lower noise floor w/ audio as compared to my system w/o the 1000 when i was using klipsch speakers, but the klipsch horn tweeter amplifies (descriptive not scientific terminology) any electronic noise your system produces. have not tried a comparison with v. without since i went to paradigm sig 8 for my front speakers, which have a significantly lower noise floor than my old rf-7. best way to check it out is to find out store's return policy & also document sales persons representations so you are buying in reliance on his representations, & return it if there is no difference.

I actually did see a slight improvement in video when I switched to my Panamax 5100, which surprised me to be honest. No difference that I could tell on the audio side, as expected. You can pick up the 3500 for $129 right now at Parts Express .com on clearance (I think they might be refurbs though).

LOLZ..... $120 for a 3500 means either it's a refurb, or been hit more times than Tina Turner. Either way, not trustworthy.
