Monster MKII Home Theatre Power Centre

Hey guys I have a question about the Monster MKII Home Theatre Power Centre. A couple of my friends have bought this because they say it stabilizes the wattage going into the receiver and protects it from surges. My question is will this unit restrict the amount of watts that is able to go to the receiver? And would it be a bad idea to connect my HK 7300 and my sub on this unit? Don't worry about the cost or brand name, I can get this for $80.

For $80, go for it.

For 250, stay away.

It will protect your equipment from surges, and it will not limit of the power. Your get max. 1800watts from 1 breaker.

You won't hear ANY difference in your speakers, and you won't see ANY difference in your tv. Everything it just safer.

Monsterpower center

Hi again Giuseppe,
I have to disagree with Sheepstar on this one.I had my HT set up in my living rm.Everytime the fridge compressor clicked on my Hitachi 47 inch HDTV had visible lines .I also had degredation in the actual sound clarity output of my speakers when listening to just audio. When i used the light dimmer in the kitchen my dvd player recieved power flux's and skipped like hell.

A friend of mine is an electronic engineer and he explained the layman's term "dirty power" and how certain appliances like fridges, drills etc effect the electrical lines and audio/video equipment. As soon as I hooked up the monster center all disappeared and as i stated my polk RT's sounded better than they ever had.The treble had seemless transparancy, better highs .Overall much more sonic realism and depth.

I now have moved everything to the basement .Taking my friends advice i now run a dedicated power supply to the monster center. After reading Sheepstar's opinion i did a little experiment.I ran all my equipment into a regular power bar plugged into the wall receptical instead of the monster unit.Wow !! my Toshiba front projector now had interference in the picture and so did my HD cable box.I then reversed the process back into the monster and dedicated line and low and behold.Super fantastic picture and sound once again.

My buddy also works at the childrens hospital of eastern ontario and it is his job to ensure that all power supplies have absolutely no interference. As you could imagine with the operations and medical equipment a hospital has. They use huge industrial power conditioners systems to keep everything running .

All that I can say as the proof was is in the pudding fro me.Give it a try .you got nothing to lose especially at $80.Even better yet go to future shop and buy one ya i know it'l be $250 but... if there is no noticible improvement the take it back for a refund.I believe they have a 15 or 30 day no hassle return. If it does work great take it back anyway and buy the other one for $80.Of course if the guy who's selling the one for $80 lets you try it first even better.

Thanks for your opinions guys. I bought the power center and I am happy with it. I can easily plug in all of my stuff and it is protected at the same time. Thanks again.

Oh, and the reason I got the power center for so cheap was because I have a friend who works at future shop. He gets everything at cost plus 10%. I bought all my speakers CSi5, RTi10, RTi6, FXi3 for a little over $1700 Canadian. The RTi10's were $1299 retail alone, lol. I think the next thing that I am going to get are some better speaker wire instead of my RCA 14 gauge wire.

What are you using the RTi6 for?

It may make a difference. It all depends on the quality of the AC coming into the amp and how good the ac filtering in your amp is. I use another brand (PS Audio) and I didn't hear a difference, but I noticed a difference in the picture on my TV.

I am using my RTi6's for my side surrounds, and the FXi3's as the Back surrounds.
