Hello a newbie here just purchased yesterday the Sony 46" Bravia XBR4 LCD and the Sony Blu-Ray DVd and also signed up for Direct TV.

Best Buy wanted 300.00 for the power block surge protector and 130.00 each for the MONSTER HDMI Cables 4' I thought that was ridiculous.

What other choices do I have for cables and power block.

Try Impact Acoustics, Bluejeans Cables, or an assortment of other good online sources. You can get a decent suppressor for less than half of that price and a cable for one fourth. Start searching. And welcome to the forum (3rd post)!

My recommendation for excellent quality cables at very low prices is monoprice.com

They are ridiculous.

Any decent surge protector is fine. A $20 APC unit is more than sufficient.

As for the cables, get them from Monoprice.com

If you have quarrels with internet purchasing you could get Acoustic Research, Philips, or some other such brand. HDMI cables are much cheaper at Monoprice though.
