Are they worth the money, and can one expect to Hear the Difference vs standard connecting cables? Or is it mostly hype? Are there components or areas where they can make a difference vs all cables in a given HT system??

Monster cable is great, if you can get a discount. Their products are good, and some make a difference (mainly video cables, IE, composite to component) but they are WAY over priced.

Check Amazon and ebay for AR. They are as good, or better than Monster for a fraction of the cost.

YOU WILL NOT HEAR A DIFFERENCE WITH EITHER

If you feel you must buy from a store, BB caries AR. But they are higher than what you would pay at Amazon or ebay.

I'll second Accessories4Less, I bought Accoustic Research cables from them cheap, and they work great. Personally, I prefer the pro II series cables, but get whatever you're comfortable with. Just make sure you get good quality video cables, they definately make a bigger difference than the audio cables do.

As a Best Buy Employee, we make fun of "Monster Cable Only" customers. They are marked up around 60-80%

If you really need MC then look at ebay, you can get them for around 50% off retail.

Monster Cable is the Bose of cables! :D

Avoid them at all costs. I was at Radio Shack the other day getting a cheap audio cable to hold me over until I got what I ordered online in the mail. The guy pushed Monster Cable and I instantly replied "ask any audiophile what they think about Monster Cable". He kept saying "but they have a lifetime warranty though" No thanks - I doubt I'd have any warranty with a cable as even the cheapest quality cables that come with cheap components have lasted me for years.
