How long of a run of HDMI cable will you have, and will you be running it inside of a wall?

about 8ft, and not through the wall.
.
Cool. I asked because that can impact the decision on which cable to invest in.

How much are the Monster cables that you are looking at? They have different lines of HDMI cables.

I don't run HDMI, so I don't have any good opinions on this. I know that others have recommended HDMI cables from monoprice.com that are pretty inexpensive, but I don't know the quality of those. A number of people here like bluejeans cables.

I'm sure that HDMI users will chime in, though.

OK Adam I will start it:eek:. Monster cable is a farce. They have good marketing techniques and a mediocre product that sells for WWWWAAAYYYY more than its worth. Blue Jeans cables are the way to go as far as all your cables are concerned. Monoprice also has great cables for a very fair price.Adam I didn't even bash really. I love the grab a beer and wait reference. It made me laugh.:D

Okay, while I have no good opinions...don't spend $270 on an 8-foot HDMI cable! That's way too much.

What is the auxiliary that you're talking about? I'll go check out the owner's manual for the 3808...

I think I might have spent $270 total in cables for my system. Don't buy the monster hype on their cables. Blue Jeans is good stuff, but I use nothing but monoprice.com in my system and they've performed flawlessly.

Monster cables are good and bad. If you read reviews where people actually measure characteristics of the cables, you'll find that sometimes they perform very well and other times they are average.

They look good and are readily available...but the price is usually unreasonable. $270 for one cable is ridiculous. If that cable were $70 when the competitors were $50 or so it might not be such a bad deal.

I have a bunch of the low end THX certified cables (about $20 each) and that is in line with competitors like Acoustic Research that are about $15. But if you multiply that figure by 10 for some of their supposed 'high end' cables, it is no longer worth it because they will perform more or less identically to the low end line, with possibly the exception of a few special circumstances (like very long runs, excessive emi/rf interference).

I'm currently using M1000's from my Pio Elite 94 to my Sunfire Cinema Grand. I had them from my prior system and were bought years ago. I've done a lot of fooling around with cables in the past few weeks. I've swapped them with blind testing enlisting the help of my neighbor and also just goofing around on my own.

I can tell you with complete certainty that I heard absolutely zero difference in anything I played when comparing the M1000's to 2 other sets of quality cables. Note that "quality" is the defining term here, but also note that quality does not have to cost an unreasonable amount of $$. Most people here praise Blue Jean cable and with good reason. They make stellar cables and I have them incorporated in my system. If you can wait 3 days, get your cables from Blue Jean and save the money. I would not likely buy the M1000's again, but am using them just because I already have them.

I got my Monster M-series HDMI off ebay for less than $20 each, got 10 of them. Its the only reason why I'm using Monster cables. My speaker cables are all Ultralink biwire. My dealer threw them (100ft) in when I purchased my Paradigm speakers years ago. I terminate the speaker wires with Monster Quicklocks. I got the set off ebay for $50.
