I would like to purchase this unit and i'm wondering if any of you use it or tested it. I would like to get people's opinion. I suppose the Monster brand is better than Panamax? Thanks.

No. Monster is just more expensive.

I own a slightly less expensive (just fewer outlets) Monster HTS 1000 MKII PowerCenter that I purchased at a "Monster" of a price discount.

Personally, I would have bought the Panamax over the Monster, but I just could not pass up a really huge price break that made the Monster a hugely good deal.

Panamax has a better warranty (life time verus 5 year, and greater $ value of equipment attached) than Monster, generally lower cost (sometimes much lower cost), and seems to have as good or better features than the Monster units.

Down side to either brand? No, just price.

I just puchased a panamax 5510 for a dedicated hometheater I'm building in the basement. This will replace a panamax 550 I have had for about 5 years now. I also bought a MAX IN-WALL™ POWERKIT-TL for my projector and 2 MAX IN-WALL™ POWER for my the powered sub in my Def Techs.

Monster makes comprable products, but I can't say I approved of their business practices or profit margin.

This one is priced $125 on the internet which I think is an excellent deal. I can also get it cheap locally since a friend's son works at Best Buy.

What is the equivalent model for the Panamax?

The HTS2000 MKII has a total of 12 AC outlets, and protection for 3 coax connections (1 satellite, 2 non-satellite) and 1 phone connection. Monsters HTS2000 features Monsters Proprietary Clean Power Stage 2 Filtering Version 2.0. Polluted AC power can cause problems such as loss of depth, imaging, audio clarity.

6 of the AC outlets on the MP-HTS2000 are unswitched for components that required constant power. The other 6 outlets are switched via a on/off switch. This unit can be wall mounted.

The HTS-2000 has 3 discrete filter sections: 1 low current audio (4 outlets), one high current audio (2 outlets), and 1 video (6 outlets). This prevents different types of equipment from interfering with each other.

The HTS2000MKII has 3 coax connectors which allow you to connect 1 satellite, and 2 non-satellite devices such as antenna, or downline TV. The F connectors are gold plated. Jumper cables are included. The phone surge protection is via a gas-tube arrester.

The HTS2000MKII has a power switch (of course), and LED lights are provided for system status, the lights are for protection on, and ground ok. The HTS2000 MKII also has digital voltage and current meters, you can read the incoming voltage and current usage. There is also a reset button for a circuit breaker.

The MP-HTS2000 is rated at 1800 watts continuous. Distortion is < .01%. It has a 2775 joule rating.

The MP-HTS2000 MKII measures 21" X 4.75" X 3", and it has an 8 ft power cord. The warranty is lifetime and includes a $250,000 connected equipment warranty.

Don't neglect to look at Tripp Lite or Furman. They make some solid, professional products that can be had at better prices. Check out Tripp Lite and Furman at Parts Express. Good stuff, less MONSTEROUS hype.

Don't get me wrong, Monster makes a solid product, but you pay for their marketing and brand name. Plus, I don't agree with their business practices. Check out the brands mentioned, and you may find something you like. Tripp-Lite makes a powerbar that sells for about $115 on Parts Express (yeah, still expensive), and it has all the features of the monster, but with a lesser continuous current rating (12A vs 15A). However, unless you're running some heavy duty equipment, you'll never max it out.

Has anybody mentioned that Monster is just more expensive? I've seen a Tripp Lite similar to the Monster you have pictured for sale at Costco.
