Hi

I am trying to figure out the best speaker cables for my audio system.

Rotel Power amp RB 1080 and Infinity Kappa 7.1 Series II

As I tested them both the Monster cable M1.2S seems to have more bass and less highs.

The Straight Wire Quartet Cable that are (Bi wire) sound with a little less bass but more highs.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks

Copper is copper, get a decent guage pure copper cable for your runs and it will sound just as good as all the over priced stuff.

I suggest monoprice.com

Do not buy monster cable. www.monoprice.com is THE place to buy your cables for a fraction of MC's price and they are much better quality....

I guess you haven't been reading the adventures of Monster Cable. I would do that and then decide if you want to support a company that behaves the way it does.

Beyond that, as someone else stated, wire, is wire. Monster wire is grossly overpriced ordinary wire, so go buy some ordinary wire and put the savings toward something for Valentines Day.....

Less highs means more inductance, usually. If you compared them directly, your perceptions would be about right but if you noticed less bass than some other cable, it would seem logical to pass on both, because one sounding like less bass and one with less treble means that both are coloring the sound. Try the cheap stuff- you'll probably like it. 14 ga should be fine, especially if the amp is capable of decent power levels or for longer runs. If you want to use 12 ga, go ahead but for most situations, it's not really necessary.

Yes. Do a proper bias controlled listening test and see if you can really tell a difference.;) The odds are no one will, no one.

Monster puts plastic in the center to save money. Go down to Home depot and get the cheap stuff. works really well.

Blue-jean cables... biwire
Don't waste your money on biwiring... it should really be called buywire.

In any case, cable is cable. Get the gauge you need for the distance and power and you're all set. If you want a nicer looking cable - and there's nothing wrong with that - then there are plenty of reasonably price options. Most important thing I think is a well built connector and a solid connection to the wire.
