Monster is even putting their name on Batteries now

No doubt they are claiming it will improve the quality of light in your flashlight and sound from your Boom-Box; what will these guys try marketing next?

For the cost of the 2-ch amp you can get an Anthem Statement P2, which has specs that are better by at least an order of magnitude. Funny.

Hifi,

My dealer carries these amps and i've listened to them briefly. They were running some paradigm in-walls and it sounded fine, but the demo was a movie, not music. I will say they LOOK cool!

see now i was thinking the exact same thing but only compared against a few other different amps,i never checked the anthem.

what trips me out about these amps is that nobody who owns them is talking:confused: somebody somewhere must own one of these things & be proud of it,atleast i would think so.

im not thinking about buying any monster gear but i am very curious if their stuff is even any good at all.

.....I clicked on the link and this was said about the 5 channel that lists at $3500, (cough, cough), and I doubt you'll find any discounts anywhere on Monster, unless you work at Circuit City or Best Buy, and what are the chances of this line of amps being carried at those outlets?....that was as far as I needed to go....sure, they look cool, but are you going to position your couch to watch an amp, or your screen, as you listen to the results of 150 per that costs $3500?....(correct, yet another slam against Monster marketing)......
I picked up the 2 channel brand new at the Good Guys going out of business
sale for $650 :) Used it briefly with my LSI15s for music and it sounded
great - I am going to use it for a 2 channel system entirely for music down
the road...

I haven't heard anything out do my Cinenova Grande 3 yet :)

Before I heard of the Cinenova Grande 3, I looked at Anthem P2 and p5 and would have bought a P3 if they had one.
I am glad I found the Cinenova Grande 3 at $1399 ( fraction of what I would have paid for the P3 if had existed ) and it
sounds every bit as good if not better and has even better power reserves :)

the last thing new consumers need on the market is another bose-like company with uber-advertising and BS'ed products...prices like that (for the product) are ridiculous in comparison to other companies like rotel and outlaw

What are you basing this statement on? First of all i own a rotel amp (and love it) so i'm not pushing monster amps. Have you researched the monster amps at all? If you have, please tell why the prices are ridiculous and why the product is BS. I haven't done any research so i'd like to know what you seem to.

He's sayin that for the price/quality/power Monster amps are a joke comparatively to other options like Rotel and Outlaw. They charge a rediculous amount of money compared to something equivalent. It's not that they are bad products, just over priced.

You basically said the same thing he did.

Sorry if I offended you rollinrocker, these amps do look and seem to be very nice, but they are just overpriced in comparison to other brands that have similar specifications on power. The only reason I compared them to Bose is because of the similarities in how many people recognize the Monster brand as a high quality product...and they're right (as opposed to the Bose addicts), its just that the pricing on these amps is unproportional to their ratings in comparison to other amps.

Monster Sucks!

It's not their products that are the problem; it's the price they charge for them and the snakeoil statements they use to sell them, not to mention their deplorable business practices. From all the hype and false-science they use to sell their products to their BS "demos", Noel Lee will one day smoke a turd in hell for the way he has practiced business.

My rotel was $2000 and is 200x5. I consider this a better value. But other amps by other companies (krell, simaudio, levinson...) make similar powered amps for MORE money and they are not constantly dragged in the dirt like monster. Is the monster of similar build quality and worthy of the price tag, (regardless of marketing techniques), I DONT KNOW. If you DO please let us know. If you dont, quit yapping.

By the way mule, i'm not directing this tirade at you, i just used your quote about pricing and power rating.

I'm no fan of Monster, but their amps are pretty beefy. Have you compared the weight of those to others with "similar" specs.

MPA2250
250x2, 20-20,000, 8 ohms .01THD
400x2, 20-20,000, 4 ohms .01THD
75 lbs

Rotel RB1080
200x2, 20-20,000, 8 ohms .03THD
?? at 4 ohms
37 lbs

Now the outlaw 7700 seems to represent a good value, but keep in mind at 93lbs, its sharing 7 channels instead of two, as well as a common heat sink. I'm not a huge fan of 3 ,5 and 7 channel amps, but I'm willing to bet this one probably delivers nicely.
200x7, 20-20,000, 8 ohms .03THD
300x7, 20-20,000, 4 ohms .03THD

Is anyone familiar with the Bose 1801 amplifier from yesteryear? It was one of the highlights of Bose before marketing took over. It was massive.
