I am looking for HDMI cables, and have ready many reviews stating that "name brands" are not the way to go for runs under 10ft. I was wondering out of 'monoprice' and 'blue jean' which had a "better" construction....I know they are inexpensive.....but if something happens dont want to wait to buy another one.
Also, how is the web-site -accessories4less- I see they have cables for cheaps up to 70% off.....are the cable refurbished like some of the eletronics?
Thanks,
Jeff
Monoprice all the way. I've now bought hundreds of dollars worth of product from both Mono and BJC. I've also bought rat shack, home depot, acoustic research, mon$ter, and tara labs.
Monoprice hdmi cables are actually thicker than my BJC hdmi cable.
Having bought plenty of 12 gauge in wall speaker wire from both, the red/black insulation is more delicate on BJC. The BJC's copper strands are already twisted, where the Mono wire is straight. The price difference is substantial.
I've used a 15ft, 35ft, now 25ft HDMI cable with PJ as I tinker with the room and setup. I think that was respectively about $10, $40, and $20, but just guessing. The cable is thicker than either the BJC or Monster cables I have in the rig, atm.
Even at over 10 ft would I stick with Mono.
The best thing about BJC is that they donate towards litigation vs Monster. However, the price difference is great enough that you could just donate your own money towards that cause, buy Monoprice, and still have a lot of money in the pocket.
If there was any issue, I would think I could notice on a 75 sq ft screen thrown up by my JVC projector in a dedicated theater, using native hidef sources exclusively.
JMO. Or... feel free to spend more. I don't care anymore. This has been beaten to friggin death.
