If you are using the balanced type, then 46 ft should be fine.
what do mean balanced type? the cable or the outputs and inputs?

the outputs are not balanced (just plain old receiver pre-outs), and i'm only using an RCA to TRS adapter on the amplifier inputs.

Sorry, I meant the interconnect cables. You receiver probably don't have balanced outputs so I guess you can't get around this one even if your power amp has balanced inputs. Is it not possible to move things around to keep your interconnect cable runs shorter than 30 feet as Monster suggested.

I did a search and found the following, if you don't mind reading up on this topic yourself.

now I'm curious if Monster doesn't recommend longer than 30 foot runs because they don't sell em OR they don't sell em because more than 30 foot runs really does have signal loss.

re: audioholics article, there's no recommendation on the max length of unbalanced interconnect wire. hmm

I haven't read this, but I found this one:

after scanning through it, I think it's some sort of audiophile site, hmmm

You may be right, it doesn't hurt to read a few more articles before jumping to conclusion. I will read the one you find when I get a minute.

I always thought that electromagnetic interference mainly applies to that several feet of wires behind the entertainment rack/center that are closed to other signal and/or power cables. The rest of the length are much less subject to such interference if they are simply laying on the floor/wall by itself with no other current carrying wires near it. That's why I do think mazersteven was right about one of the benefit of using monoblocks is that you can locate them closer to the speakers. That way, you can avoid having high current carrying wires near the signal wires (analog/digital video, audio wire for/from different sources). As for signal losses, as long as noise are kept low enough, the signal gets amplified anyway so just turn the volume up:).
