Would the bronze line from ma just be another flavor to sample or would they by a cut above most id brands.....ascend, arx, aperion, etc...?

Generally the ID brands offer better performance cheaper than comparible in store brands.

For example I recently demoed a pair of Paradigm Monitor 7 and 9s against the Arx A5 and felt that the Arx A5 performed just as good as the Paradigm Monitor 9. Arx A5 $749 plus $75-115 for shipping vs the Paradigm Monitor 9 at $1200-1500.

I just think ID offers more bang for the buck. That isn't to say store brands are bad theres just a premium over the IDs. The markups are much higher on B&M brands than ID brands. For example I bet a pair of Ascend Sierra towers would probably be several hundred maybe even $1000 more if it sold in stores compared to buying direct.

this is the correct answer... And generally the id customer support is better, I talked to the owner of the company for every ID item I bought, DR. HSU, Eric Alexander from tekton, David from Ascend {I dont know how to spell his last name Fabri-something}, and Dan Lawfman form Emotiva {met him, super nice, and comes off as a very intelligent man}.. Although the girl that answers the phone at Emotiva comes off as miserable when you call, but she just redirects you to sales or tech, ect so you dont have to deal with here much.. BUT I can not complain about Wharfedale, went to the guys {not owner obviously but the co. that imports them} house and then he came to mine, but there US headquarters is only an hour or so away... ANYWAY, ID is the way to go, just pick a company that has been around for more than a couple years...

Thanks for the replies. I've been holding off on posting because I'm not buying anything until after Christmas. Probably Feb or March. In the middle of a remodel right now. I was SUPPOSE to be able to upgrade the speakers with the remodel money....but you know how that goes. I just got some of my old equipment set up in the new living room and been playing with the set up. New floors, drywall, doors, so a new sound. So far I lean towards the ascends and the arx's. Not much to look at though(the whole reason I was given the green light to upgrade, lol). The arx's scare me, not sure I'd like that tweeter. Going from a horn to a planar? One day I'll do an all inclusive post on suggestions based on room, listening preferences, current equipment, and budget. I'm kind of starting look at aesthetics a little more. I go back and forth every few weeks on which my favorite is. I know I need to demo, but I'm sure I'll be sticking with id brands. Plus I don't live too close to a good store. One nearby shut down a few years ago, and the other actually stocks very little. At least the last time I was in there. I would have to drive to Houston(about a 2hr drive). And then I'd probably be listening to speakers I wouldn't be buying. Kind of feel bad for the salesmen, lol. It would be good to get an idea of what I like, but it sure would be time consuming. I've owned Klipsch all my adult life. Went and maxed out the card in '95 at 19, lol. Just couldn't help myself. I'm ready to move on to something new, plus wife can't stand the Klipsch's. They hurt her ears she says. I always liked them, but I pretty much listened to hard rock at max volume. Not anymore.
