Has anyone heard the old silver series vs the new RS line?
How does the S2 compare to the new RS1?

I listened to both, in the same room. I picked up the R-1 because there were a tad cheaper although sounded the same.

So you didnt think there was any difference between the two? I wasn't sure if the new RS series were any different

I've heard the models that immediately preceeded the RS series, but not the ones you mentioned. The ones I heard were sonically indistinguishable, IMHO, from the RSs. I've been told the only real difference was the cosmetics of the cabinets - the RSs are more "rounded" .

I am speakiing of the models right before the RS series. So it sounds as though I may have to jump to the Gold-Thanks

The MA Gold GR series are being replaced by the GS series. The Gold GR's have square corners, the GS rounded.
For my mains I use the Gold GR-20's. I also have the Silver RS 8's. The Golds are quite a bit more but worth every penny IMO.

If you have the funds to do so, I certianly would. The golds will also need a decent amp to sound thier best IMO.

I agree with the jump in sound quality with the golds - the only killer for me was the price of the golds was twice the silvers. IMHO, the sound was noticeably better, but not twice as good.

I agree, but there are some closeouts going on with the GR series so there are some $$ to be saved if one chose to skip the new GS line.
I think I could handle the GR10's instead of the GS10's :)

I am with you on that. I just purchased a brand new pair of GR10's in the piano black for $599 from Magnolia Audio. They sound amazing.

That is a great price for a great speaker. I became interested in MA speakers when I read Genes GR10 review on this site. I now have an all MA Gold setup and unlike the rest of my AV equipment, never feel the desire to upgrade the Golds.

Is that review on the website or in the forums?
