Modulating Video Onto Channel 3?

Well, sure, I've done PC, HDMI, component, s-video, and composite video distribution... But, haven't dealt with modulating video at all.

So, I have digital cable and it looks like channel 3 is open. On my cable ready televisions, it's total snow. I would like to use an inline modulator and connect it to my 400 disc DVD changer so I can send that video anywhere in the home. Specifically for my son to watch a movie in the playroom (no, hands on disc = discs last long!)

Is it as simple as that - Part$ Expre$$ has a in-line modulator for channel 3/4 that seems like it'll work, but I want to know if this is the correct thinking on my part or if there is something that I am missing?

Many thanks!

That should work fine.. Use a 2 way splitter in reverse to combine the modulator and the cable signal together onto your coax.

By the way, you can pick up modulators at Walmark, Kmart, just about everywhere that sells DVD players. No need to mail order one.

Unlikely, but if you have a distribution amplifier it will not retransmit the modulated signal onto other outputs of the amp. This would look like a multiway splitter that has a 110V power cord to a wall outlet.

Actually I have a 8 or 9 way powered splitter, so that is good info. I was looking at the one at Part$ Expre$$ because it is inline, that is, you put the cable feed into it along with the video signal you want on channel 3, and it outputs the combined signal. So, a second combiner is not necessary.
