modify Infinity BU2 Sub?

Hi,

I have an old Infinity BU2 powered subwoofer. It's a 12" ported subwoofer that's fairly boomy and not very accurate. I added dampening material to the inside walls to nock down some of the resonant peaks. It has improved a little but it's still not clean enough. Does anyone have any suggestions on what other mods might improve this unit? A replacement woofer? Port mod?

I've included the specs below.

Thanks :)

Try moving it to a different location in the room, or adding a parametric equalizer; the room is in almost complete control throughout a subwoofer's pass band, if the sub is energizing a room mode that is present at you listening position, changing the slope of the subwoofer's frequency response will not fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've moved it about the room in the past and the performance didn't change much.

Thanks:)

Then again, it may be a subwoofer with a high Q tuning...

If you have a way to measure the in room response, that will help immensely with fixing any response issues.
