**Place Holder*** (Pics to come)

Well, My first foray into tackling a complete and New A/V set-up.... was not my own (for budget restriction purposes) I, instead, decided to live out my "Would Be Apartment HT" Fantasy through my sister's recently approved credit card and persistently gentle coercion. I did contribute the speakers as a "Bona fide Gift" seeing as how her birthday is in a week.

On to the Goods. Having access to inventory systems is quite beneficial when it comes to hunting down a Clearance product on its last stretch of retail life, which shows in the Receiver I had found for her. And she did get a hell of a deal on her TV as well.

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V1700 ($269, couldn't pass it up. Even if it's too much for the speakers)
TV: Panasonic TH-42PZ700u 1080p plasma
DVD: Panasonic DMP-BD30K Blu-Ray
Speakers: DefTech PC 600 package. (yes, small. But apartment and budget friendly)

Due to a carefully placed 30 story building 1/2 mile south of her Apartment, her DirecTv signal is at around 80% and therefore, unable to get High-Def service from them. She has about 6 months left on contract, or 18 months, she can't remember. so she has 2 choices. 1. Move and get 100 channels of HD goodness. 2. Wait and settle for 20 something HD channels from Cable.

But she is stoked about her Blu-Ray and Surround sound. It took Years of trying to convince her how great Surround is, and the same for Hi-Def...

... And all it took, was one of her all-time favorite movies in Hi-def beauty to convince her to get Hi-Def. And one seemingly predictable suspense scene from a movie she had seen a dozen times.... that made her jump out of her seat, for her to be sold on Surround Sound.

I spent about 6 hours total on mounting, wire management, AV hook-up, Testing, etc. and another 2 hours cleaning up her thrashed apartment from my constant snacking habits. All by myself. And I must say, it is one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life as a Home Theater sales associate. To have a complete system, from concept to completion, designed and installed by yours truly.

I'm off to enjoy "Lord Of The Rings" until my sister comes home with her digital Camera. Pics to come later tonight.

ACK! Got the camera, took 20+ Pictures, can't find the connection for the computer!

I'll just plug it directly into MY computer, or Printer, when I get home. They both have Memory Stick Pro slots. Pics should be up around 12:00am tonight.

Time for pics

Rears. I wanted them lower, but my sister was concerned about her Moulin-Rouge-Esque lamps blocking them. compromise worked out perfect. I didn't have to cut the 60" plastic raceway.

Lucy for me, there was a perfect gap between the Carpet Grip wood line and the wall. Wire ran perfectly underneath the whole way

Wide view of the Rears over the lamps.

Wire management (not completed) Front right.

Wire management (again, not complete) Front left, and a generous view of her limited movie assortment. The Star Wars VHS' are mine, but I don't own a VCR anymore.

Wish I had held some paper over the flash to softn it. Oh well.

Front once

Front Twice

Front THRICE!

Remember before passing judgment... This is an apartment. I'm ready for comments, concerns and criticism

Unleash the Fury, Mitch. Unleash the fury. :p

Very clean setup. I am loving the white racetrack you used to conceal the wire. Where did you get it from? That would solve my wife's constant complaining in the blink of an eye. :D

$8 for each 60" Track

$5 for the tiny tubes by the fireplace

Any Home Depot or Lowes man. Problem solved

I'm using the racetrack, too. It's a good solution. I have to say, that's a perfect wall for an entertainment center. Looks good.

Yeah. Fireplace is ugly as hell. She has plans to get a new stand, sometime in the near future, that will cover it up completely. It was kind of a pain in the *** with the old stand, because the receiver wouldn't fit on either shelf. There were pinholes 2 inches below the pins we were using for the shelf on the front side, but no slot two inches lower for the glass on the back side. So instead of just taking apart the whole stand piece by piece and just cutting a slot for the glass on the rear, we cut out a whole chunk of the particle wood (or whatever it was made out of) and just slid the glass down. Except we didn't have a saw.... so we drilled holes until it made a cut line. It looks like ****, but it worked.

But that doesn't solve the problem immediately, there would be atleast a 15min-1hr wait to actually get to HD and get the saw and come home. And I don't know about them, but when I want a problem solved, I want it solved now.:D

Yeah, about the saw thing. She wanted to cut corners (no pun intended) as much as possible when it came to construction cost. The 1700 is covering up the poor Drill/Cut job for now, at least until she gets a proper TV Stand that'll hold the AVR.

Your front left/right and rear left/right are mounted a bit high by my way of looking at the world. Was there a reason for that?
