Mobile DJ Subs in HT?

I have been looking at a lot of different subs, and i know that I want loud lung plunging bass with low end frequencies & high power. I have seen the specs for several traditional subs nice wood box shiny finish etc. (Epik Empire, Rythmik F15HP, Velodyne 18" subs, even the JL Gotham and other way out of my price range subs with the power and frequencies i'm looking for. Then I run across JBL and QSC DJ powered subs with good power and low frequencies at a better price range, question obviously is how practical would it be to use a DJ style subwoofer for HT application? The sub i'm leaning towards is the JBL PRX618S-XLF 18".

Thanks,

Johnny

That sub has a -3db rating of 39hz, that isn't very good, especially for $1200.

You can do much better than that for HT for the same or less money.

Any svs sub wouldd be better than that.

You make a great point, haven't heard of those until now great specs. The PB-13Ultra and PB-13Plus are definitely added to the comparison list out goes the PRX. Correct me if i am wrong these do not reach the high SPL numbers put up by the PRX, but are consistent in the SPL Vs Frequency chart which is simply saying the quality of the sound is way better and the actual sound is less harsh on the ears while the sound waves are more intense.
