I am just returning the SVS 13 Ultra and get Martin Logan balanced force 212. Just wonder should I get an another Ultra 13 to run a dual sub? Will ML 212 sub out performance the dual Ultra 13?

Hard to say much with the little provided (like even which SVS 13 you're referring to, guessing SB) but personally I'd rather have the dual subs for flexibility in placement/smoothing room modes, not to mention the cost advantage and better warranty/support SVS offers. Since I don't believe there are any third party measurements to compare, no idea how the performance compares.

An ML balanced force would not come close to outperforming 2 SB13 Ultras. I would say that the SB16 Ultras are very much worth the extra cash though, and I doubt that even one ML BF 212 could outperform a single Sb16 Ultra.

I wouldn't even consider an ML212 without a serious discount, $4k for a dual opposed 12" sub is pretty pricey, and the duals have the advantage in positioning for mode smoothing.

At the $3,995 price of a single Martin Logan Balanced Force 212 sub, I'd suggest a pair of SVS SB16 Ultra would blow it out of the water for $200 less.

Let me confirm that I ran this sub with:
A pair of ML Ethos
ML State X
4 ML FX2
2 ElectroMotion R

I thought ML 212 should go well with Ethos, which after calibrated with
PBK - Perfect Bass Kit

Honestly, we need a lot more info if you want specifics. First of all, how big is your room? What are the dimensions? How far will the subs be from your MLP? Is your room open to other rooms/areas? Do you have flat ceilings? What are your listening habits? Do you primarily watch movies/tv OR do you listen to a lot of music? Are you a gamer? How loudly do you play your setup? Are you wanting to play above reference levels?

I could go on all day. The point is we need more info in order to really help you. But, I agree w/the other posters here forget about the ML and look to the SVS. However, are these the ONLY two brands that you are looking at? Will you consider others? Lastly, are you in the US?

Cheers,

Phil

I'd like to see a comparison of the Seaton F18+ against the new SVS PB16 or SB16 Ultra.

In the price of a 212, I'd look at a Seaton Sound F18+ for $2300 and a F18 for $1100. Even just getting the single F18+ would be better money spent.

EverettT I have just one thing to say after viewing your link-Holy Smokes!:eek::eek::eek: Very impressive to say the least. Is that Mark Seaton in the pics? It is nice to put a face to a name if you will. Hey, it never hurts to dream eh? Tom V. has some new 18" subs coming as well:

These are supposed to offer significant improvements in terms of output down low. As always, I am more interested in the sealed versions!

Cheers,

Phil

Yes that's Mark. The extension of low bass and spl is impressive. The Dayton um18 driver used is a beast for the price, takes tons of power lending itself to boosting eq at frequencies that normally require a cut above or below as opposed to boost. IIRC @djreef is running two in a 2.2 setup. You can PM for impressions in a small room setup. His incarnation of this driver and electronics is quite impressive.

I'd certainly love to see Marks dsp settings but I'm sure that's not gonna happen lol. :D

I'd consider Mark one of the most knowledgeable designers, especially subwoofers, in the industry. FWIW
