Mixing def tech's with MartinLogan

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and have a dilemma I'm sure that someone here can help me with.

I am currently in the process of swapping out some speakers in my HT and am not sure what to do.

I started out with a polk audio rm6750 5.1 HTiB. Currently I am still using the Polk center channel and surrounds. I have replaced the sub and towers of the HTiB with a polk psw110 and def tech bp6's respectively. So my current system looks like this:

Yamaha rx-v465 receiver
Def Tech BP6 front L/R
Polk Audio RM6752 center (from HTiB)
Polk Audio RM6751 surround L/R (from HTib)
Polk Audio PSW-110 sub
Room is 12'x9'

Ok so, the def techs were picked up for about half MSRP on pure impulse (i'm no pro) but i really like them, and they work great for my size room. Same goes for the Polk sub, i got it really cheap and it pumps out plenty of bass for this size room (albeit not the best, but still really good for the money). So i am working on keeping the def techs and my sub and replacing my surrounds and my center. My first move is getting a better center to compliment my towers and fill in the noticeable gap in the center of my sound stage...and here is where my problem lies. I was planning on going with Def Tech's own suggestion, the CS8040-HD ($500). I like the sound but currently it is unavailable until an unspecified time at any local retailers. So today i purchased a MartinLogan Motion 8 instead. It sounded really freakin' good for the price of $400. But the tweeter technology used is very different from that found in my BP6's and in general i don't know how well the "timbre" will match up. The Motion8 needed to be ordered into the store, so i haven't heard it next to my def techs yet. Do you guys think this speaker will mesh well with my current system, or do i cancel the order and wait for the def tech center to become available. I may be able to order it online but as far as buying it locally, there is no telling when it will be available (some kind of promotion caused them to sell out and now everyone is waiting on def tech to make more and ship them out).

I really liked the MartinLogan motion 8 and i can return it for up to 1 month after picking it up, giving me some time to test it out for myself. I really just want some sound advice from the pros on this. Also, please remember, I am on a budget here and would like to keep what ever i buy comparable in price to my BP6's ($400-500).

Usually it is recommended that your front three are similar, but seeing as how you've already ordered the ML and there's a return policy, just wait for it to show up and decide for yourself! Only you will be able to decide if you like te sound or not

Why in the world would you go against Def Tech recommendation and then worry about timbre matching?

Return the ML and wait for the CS8040 to be available. Until then make do without a center speaker.

Alternately, post in the DefTech Owner Thread and maybe Joe@DefTech can help you source the center speaker.

I actually had a similar set up. 3 ML in the front and two def tech for the rears. You definitely want to match and are doing so. Im not sure if this will affect your purchase but I ended up turning the def techs and getting MLs for the rear. I think the MLs can handle higher volume better. Good luck with your purchase.
