Bought the Mitsubishi WD-52725 and was surprised at the sound level caused by the fan. I measured decibels and get nearly 60 db from side and 50 db from front at 1 foot. Has anyone else tested and does that seem high?

Love the TV, but the noise is distracting during quiet portions of content.

Could be a bad fan. I had a similar problem with my RCA HDTV when I first got it. It was a loud "whistling" sound. It turned out to be a bad bearing in the fan. They replaced it under warranty, no more probs.

I also noticed the level higher than expected.
@ 1 meter front level is 38.4 dB, side levels were 43.5dB.

I think they could have done better with the cooling.
Otherwise, love the HDTV..

This is not a common problem with these tv's. In my store I can put my ear right up to the side of the tv and hear nothing. These tv's were recalled before they were even released to relocate the cooling fan to make them quieter.

I purchased a Mitsubishi WD-52525 DLP 52" RPTV less than a month ago. I haven't had an opportunity to measure the decible level of the fan motor but it's distractingly high. What's worse it continues to run at a 50% lower level when the set is turned off......continuously! There was some blurb in the owners manual mentioning the fan noise but I wasn't expecting it to be running 24/7. Otherwise it's a great set and has an astounding HDTV picture! :D I'm not buying the previous comment that this is "not a common problem with these tv's". I beleive it's an inherent problem with the Mitsubishi WD DLP models. I'll get around to calling Mitsubishi to find out what the hell is going on with the continuous running after a normal period of cool down once the set is off. For now I'm too busy setting up my home theater system, at least once that's finished I can drown out the fan noise while I'm watching DVD's!
