All setup and works fine, but the rear channel isn’t.

1. looks like there’s a speaker button, but believe it merely turns off all speakers

2. surround button, has three modes, none of which turn on rear channel (verified the connections)

How can I untilize this and anyway to toggle only rear on/off?

What are the 3 surround modes available? That is an analogue unit, so it only has stereo audio inputs. That implies that it only has Dolby Pro Logic decoding. You will not get rear channel audio on stereo content like music CDs, cassette tapes or audio from a TV. I still have an old Kenwood analogue AVR and the only time I got rear channel audio was with a Dolby encoded DVD. Have you tried a DVD player with that unit?

Thanks for the response! It does have Dolby Pro Logic, Bypass, Dolby 3 Stereo, Hall Surround Modes. Haven’t tried a DVD, but blown away, as I am now getting sounds from the rear speakers (in all modes, but not Bypass). This is ideal for me, as the rear speakers are outside on our patio!!! Thank you SO much!!

Additionally, adding the Dolby 3 Stereo and Bypass modes cutoff the sound to the rear channel and recognizing the the DPL option reduces the volume on both front and rear channels.. again, highly appreciated, especially since previously I have a four port A-B-C-D switch box, which I had to discard, due to some new speakers I got for my front channel, that required me to configure as a pass-through. Now, my life is complete again.. didn’t want to part having music outside/patio. Best, David

Yes, that was why I asked what surround modes were supported. There are some surround modes that will process stereo audio and mix content for the rear speakers, much like current Dolby upmixers on modern AVRs. Sometimes there is a 5-channel stereo option that will play the R+L content in both front and rear channels. Glad to hear you found a solution.
