I have a mitsu WD-65731 and am using JVC RX-D206B receiver. I have a HDMI XBox 360 connected to the television and a digital coaxial cable from the tele to the receiver. for some reason the receiver isn't auto detecting a digital audio siginal so i can't get dolby digital. when i switch to component cable for the xbox and use the optical cable directly from the xbox to the receiver everything works as it should. what do i need to do so i can use the hdmi from the xbox to the tv and digital coaxial to the receiver and still get a dolby digital signal?

I have a Mits 52" DLP (Model 52631) and I run HDMI from my HD cable box to the TV and then the digital audio cable from the TV to the receiver. I have never gotten a digital signal from the TV. I don't believe the TV passes the signal in it's original DD format.

I can't say why this is but I think it's a black eye on an otherwise fine TV set. I've been waiting until I upgrade receivers (when I'll run the HDMI directly to the receiver) to get DD from cable.

*sigh*

well, that sucks. i thought i read in the manual (and i believe we have the same manual) that you can output a digital signal. why else have a digital coaxial output? my cable box has a optical output so i use that to my receiver. i guess i justed wasted a $120 when i upgraded to the HDMI Xbox 360

If there is a way to "activate" the DD output on the Mits, I'd love to hear about it. This is a thorn in my side when I first got my Mits too. It never even occured to me to ask the retailer since I assumed it would output DD. Otherwise, as you said, why have a DD output??

I posted questions about this over at AVS about this same issue. Start at the link and read on. Bad news at post 3527.

From pg. 30 of the manual:

IMPORTANT
For sound from your devices, note that the HDMI inputs can receive digital stereo audio signals only. To use digital surround sound for an HDMI or DVI device, connect that device’s digital audio output directly to your A/V receiver. See the Owner’s Guides for those devices for instructions.
The link jcsprankle posted above is absolutely correct.

I get a digital signal through HDMI.
I think I was reading your issue incorrectly. They are correct on what the manual says. Why are you trying to run this through your TV? Just run the opt or coax fom the XBOX to the AVR.
