I happened to come across a pair of Mirage M5 speakers that I am considering to buy. All the reviews I have read date back about 5 years or more, but it seems everyone felt these were an incredible speaker. I know nothing about them.
By today's standard, do these speakers still hold their weight? Any information would be appreciated to help make my decision.

If you can live with the bipolar thing you might like them. They need to be out in the room away from walls, and thus hog a lot of space and tend to dominate the room. IMO it's still kind of gimmicky, in that the bipolar approach relies on local room acoustics a lot more than other approaches, giving that hall-of-mirrors embellishment applied to everything (which admittedly can result in very subjectively satisfying results for plenty of folks, with lots of material).

I haven't heard the Mirages specifically, but have always found the classic Def Tech bipolars which are very similar to be rather enjoyable when implemented properly.

So in your pondering of them, think of your room first and work backwards. Would these work for you and your situation?
