Okay so heres the problem I just got my bookshelf speakers hooked up to my amp and then hooked my amp to my laptop. The speakers work great, but a huge problem is if I put the amp to a certain volume level or higher, the speakers make frequent popping sounds, so I need to put my amp on a very low volume to stop this, but even at this low volume level, the speakers still make occasional popping every 20-30 minutes during certain songs, and get worse during specific songs.
My question is, maybe its because I don't use a DAC? My laptop is fairly new and I'm assuming it has a decent sound card, if you'd like a link to my model laptop Ill try finding it. Im not sure if it's the laptops fault being directly hooked up to the amp, or if its the amps fault since it isn't a very powerful amp, but I read reviews and it seems nobody else is having popping issues at higher volumes, Im guessing my laptop can't handle the amp being at higher levels? Not sure if this is the issue but I'd be grateful if someone can help me diagnose this issue and let me know how to fix it?
If I do need to get a DAC, I can only go to the $300 or less range, I'm not looking for a very high quality DAC, just one that can do its job well enough and eliminate the clicking. Thanks a lot for the help I appreciate it.
