Minor Issue: Denon DVD2200 w/Denon AVR1803 Remote

Hi. I purchased a new Denon DVD-2200 DVD player today and am happy with it overall, but I'm having one minor problem. It's connected to a Denon AVR-1803 receiver, which I purchased new less than a year ago. I've programmed the AVR-1803's remote (the RC-916) to work with the DVD-2200 by following the instructions that came with the AVR-1803. (Press "OFF" and "ON/SOURCE" at the same time, then hit "111" or "014") This works for all the necessary functions of the DVD-2200 EXCEPT turning it off... which should be a pretty basic function.
Pressing "ON/SOURCE" with the remote set to VIDEO and DVD/VDP will turn the unit ON, but not OFF!

Is there another number combination that I can use with this remote so that I can turn OFF the DVD-2200, as well as have all of the other DVD functions that I currently have with this remote? It seems silly that I could turn my old $179 Sony DVP-NS715P DVD player on and off with my Denon remote, but I can't turn my $600 Denon DVD player off with my Denon remote! I could understand this if the remote was three or four years old, but come on... The AVR-1803 only came out last spring, and I was one of the first customers in Indianapolis to get one! (I had ordered mine three weeks before they started shipping.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, my 3802 remote doesn't really run my DVD-2200, either. I like the player's own remote a lot anyway, so I guess I never considered it a problem. But it's not just your unit.

Well, glad to know I'm not alone at least... I've e-mailed Denon... We'll see if they have any suggestions.

On another note, how do you usually find yourself listening to 2-channel audio out of this unit with your 3802... Do you use the DVD/VDP input selection, & let the 3802's DAC's decode the digital signal, or do you let the 2200's 192kHz DAC's do the work, and run the analog signal through the EXT.IN on the receiver and send the signal straight to the receiver's amplification section?

I know that the 2200's DAC's are supposed to be excellent, just wondering if you use them for regular CD's (in addition to the SACD's that they're needed for) or let the receiver's 96kHz DAC's do the work? Just curious.

UPDATE: After e-mailing Denon customer support yesterday afternoon (a Sunday), I received a reply e-mail this morning. NICE customer service!!!
They suggested trying the code "0000" on the remote & seeing if that works. I'm at work right now, but I'll try that as soon as I get home & see if that solves the problem.

UPDATE #2: I e-mailed Denon on Tuesday to tell them that "0000" doesn't work. Customer service e-mailed me back this afternoon that, after further investigation, the AVR-1803's remote WILL NOT turn off the DVD-2200.

Great customer service response time to my inquiry (both e-mails got a response in less than 24 hours!), but I'm going to blame the engineers for the blunder of having a Denon universal remote that's less than a year old that won't turn off a Denon component.

Killer, same thing for me regarding my 3802. Tried teaching it on the learning mode to accept the "off" command from the 2200 remote but it just keeps giving me the "fail" message. Jim McGinnis over at Denon was very helpful but unfortunately our remotes can't do the trick. I guess we could teach another button to turn off the player but then why would we want a button that says anything else but "off" for that very purpose? I guess we can't have everything.........but if we could, how about the 2200 in a 5-disc platter version!
Regarding use of the DAC's, I use the 2200's for the analog ext in for listening to DVD-A and SACD and, optical digital for the audio on DVD's of course. On 2 channel cd's I'll switch between the 2 for best sound though the 6ch/7ch mix using the receiver seems to yield the best results.
