Very interesting hadn't seen much about these. Not sure I would use one though with all the other machines we all have. Desktop, laptop, tablet etc...

Ignoring utterly useless previous comment, these boxes only mildly interesting at best. Especially second one is garbage. Atom cpu cores are still crap. Hp mini might be of use for light office usage, thin client or htpc.

For about $180.00 and being upgradable, the HP looks pretty good. Streams 1080p, can run games, has a small footprint and comes with a keyboard and mouse. Plus, it's a full on windows pc for someone looking for more than a media box. This could be a game changer.

I still say "meh".

I'm still looking more at the Raspberry Pi.

BSA, how do you think these compare to the Pi?

Hp mini with intel haswell Celeron is indeed capable running Windows, but don't performance wise its pretty light. Office and Internet only.
Running games? Sure, if you're talking about Solitaire and minesweeper. It will not make to run Crysis for example.
Asus chromebox has identical hardware, costs less and with changes can run Windows or htpc if wanted so.
As for pi2 - for htpc usage i expect difference to be minimal.
Pi2 could run os with gui desktop, but limited to Linux only.
